Based in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Graduated from the Department of Applied Biological Science, Faculty of Science and Technology at Tokyo University of Science, and completed a Master’s program in Environmental Resources at the Graduate School of Agriculture, Hokkaido University. Specialized in plant physiology and plant physiological ecology. After graduation, I worked in environmental education and as a nursery school teacher. My experiences, including childbirth, have led me to continuously explore the question: “What is life?” In 2009, I began creating and selling handmade accessories. In recent years, I have been producing sculptural works, and since 2017, I have also presented photographic works. Centered around solo exhibitions, my work focuses on living creatures and the natural world.

CONCEPT

With the intention that “all life is the most precious and valuable thing,” I mainly depict small creatures that are often overlooked in daily life. Through my work, I explore the mystery, beauty, transience, rawness, fluctuations, and wildness of life—capturing its many facets. Combining a biological perspective with the animistic worldview deeply rooted in Japanese culture, I contemplate the nature of life. I hope to continue conveying the dearness, dignity of all living beings and biodiversity through my works.
